The first day back at school just ended.

I wasn't so bad, actually. I wandered a little bit at my school trying to figure where the hell I'd be having my class, but wasn't for long. This will teach me to not arrive to any place too early.

The classmates and professor were ok. The classmates had the right amount of niceness without being obnoxious and seems like they are interested in what they are doing.

The professor was just ok. She tried to make us participate and has success. Still, she went on and on in whatever we were talking about and I ended up bored.

I mean, 5 hours of the same class are bound to be less than riveting, but damn. I didn't fall asleep just because it was the first day and I make no promise to stay that way.

So, my first day back at school ended without any real action.

There are not enough people in the course I want and that makes me wonder what will happen with me, since I have already paid for the course.

I just hope, for the love of everything that's holy, that I don't end up dumped on the Psychoanalisis course. The last thing I want is spend two years of my life studying a wack pseudo science that I loathe with all my soul.

Anyway, I at least I had the chance to say Hi to some of the profs. that I like.

Awesome. I can import a RSS or Atom feed into Facebook, so I can write in here and it will appear on there.

That way it seems like I'm in many places at once while, in fact, I just found a shortcut to look busy. If this doesn't prove that I'm prime material to work in a office space, I don't know what it will.

Anyway. I'm having a hard time trying to sleep, as usual. It's kind of a big deal since I'll be back in school this next Monday and I need to wake up early for that. And I know how charming I am when I don't get enough sleep.

With some luck I'll manage to sleep early on Sunday at least.

And, I just noticed how often I use the word "I" when I write.

¡The elections are over!

And I can deny I witness with glee that the PRD got stomped everywhere they were contending for governors.

See, I'd love to have a party to vote that appeased my liberal heart, but that's not the case in México. There are supposed left-wing parties, but all of them are just the same conservative stuff coated with a lot of whining and arguing. Not my cup of tea.

Furthermore, my state is a horrible state due to drug trafficking. That soared in the time the previous governor was in charge. A Governor coming from the PRD. I rather not vote for people affiliated with him and his party.

Plus, a lot of people nullified their vote intentionally. The total of nullified voted was greater than those earned by smaller parties, and in some places, even grater than the total of votes earned by big parties. There's a lot of people that don't like any of the options they have to vote for.

All in all, I liked this elections. Not because of the parties and candidates, but because of the voters. They showed a lot of interest and commitment, that's a good sign and I hope to see more of that in the future.

So there's this thing in Honduras that will, most likely, end in an ugly way.

Micheletti, leader of the coup, has said that nobody will make him change his mind. He's the president, what was done was the right thing and whoever dares use the force against his rule will know his wrath. I'm not sure how much punch packs the army of one of the poorest countries in America, but that has been said.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world says that Micheletti is not the president of Honduras. Zelaya is the only president of that country, everyone has said so. Even both Chavez and Obama.

Now, this is interesting since Chavez is utterly convinced that the US is directly responsible of the coup in Honduras, while Obama and his administration have said that they ara against the coup and only recognize Zelaya as president.

There are two likely options.
a) The US is involved in an ultra secret conspiracy to take control of Honduras and whatever they say to the press are lies.
b) Chavez is batshit crazy and see every problem in America as the direct product of the US meddling.

Of course, it's very likely that Chavez is just being his batshit himself. Did I mention that Honduras is poor? Like, in extreme poor?

Something else of interest is this. For what it's seen on Twitter (yay, reliable source!), The people from Honduras is divided in the issue. Some want Zelaya back and some are happy he's gone.

As I said, this can only end in an ugly way.

I always wonder how does my accent sound.

Not my accent in english. I'm well aware I sound stilted and with the some of the usual affectations of a spanish speaker talking in english.

I wonder how I sound to other spanish speaking people, from places different to my own.

What I've heard is that Mexicans have a "singing" accent, whatever that means. I guess it refers to the pacing of our word. Probably with a marked cadence.

Something I'm quite sure is that Mexicans enunciate equally all letters in a word. Every single of them. That would contribute to the "singing" quality? I don't know.

It's mystery for the time being.

Oh my, I haven't used this in a long, long time and I feel like I need to do something about it. Just because.

Alright, so I just bought a toy. A Centinel with Cyclops action figure. It says it's for small kids, but, eh. The Centinel is bulky, shinny and it's smiling; you can't top a smiling killing machine so easily.

I thought about buying the Fing Fang Foom with Iron Man toy but I really don't care too much about a huge magical (I think) dragon. The only thing I really wanted was the tiny Iron Man toy. I mean, my Centinel looks nice on my desktop, all ready to blast your face off while smiling. I don't think a dragon would be much better than that.

Oh yeah. These toys were tightly packed. I had to go past through three different layers of duct tape and some plastic wire before being able to unleash the joy that is playing with toy while being a grown up dude.

No es mi imaginación, mi nueva computadora tiene una tarjeta de sonida con más calidad de sonido que la que tenía mi computadora vieja.

Aunque, era de esperarse de una tarjeta de sonido que compre hace como cinco años.

No hay mucho queja, al contrario. Es agradable escuchar partes de canciones que me gustan que no había notado porque estaban escondidas en las frecuencias más altas o en las más bajas.

El único inconveniente que tengo es que no sólo descubro partes que no conocía de las canciones de mis artistas favoritos (uy sí), sino que también me encuentro con cosas que no había escuchado en la música que produzco.

Cuando empezaba en esto, siempre me frustraba no ponerle suficiente fuerza a los bajos. Ahora me doy cuenta que le pongo mucho bajo a todo. Suena machacante, como diría no sé que persona, pero es cansado a los oidos.

También escucho con más claridad detalles de las frecuencias altas. Para ser un sintetizador con sólo dos osciladores y salido mono, el Substractor da un sonido muy, muy rico.

¡Y! No hay nada como pasar de "no se escucha lo suficiente" a "necesita escucharse menos".

Si viera la tele abierta más seguido sabría que caricaturas hay disponibles en la tele. Pero como en tele abierta pasan Family Guy Y American Dad, mi fe ha caído por los suelos.

Admito que hay dos o tres cosas en Family Guy que se me han hecho graciosas, pero ver media hora de un chiste malo tras otro, tras otro, tras otro, tras otro, tras otro no es lo mío. No señor. Si quisiera eso, vería las temporadas nuevas de los Simpsons.


¿Cuáles son las posibilidades de que vea The Brave and the Bold en tele abierta? ¿Podré disfrutar de ver a Jaime Reyes, Ollie Queen y Ted Kord animados algún día?

Momento. ¡Sí!

Se supone que el protagonista de esa serie es Batman. Y todos sabemos que vampirito emo original es muy popular.

¡Y juguetes!

Cualquier serie de tele con juguetes debe y será exprimida hasta que no le quede una gota de dignidad.

Por mi está bien. En cuanto pueda me compro mi figura de acción e Jaime Reyes :D

Con el afán de escribir con más frecuencia y así, espero, mejorar al menos en mi habilidad para escribir cosas terribles, un par de cosas no terriblemente interesantes, pero sí creadoras de este enunciado innecesariamente largo.

Por una parte, estoy bastante impresionado con lo mucho que mejoró mi máquina con ponerle un giga más de RAM. El cambio es mucho más evidente en Windows, donde las aplicaciones se comen RAM como si fueran galletas. En Linux, el rendimiento se nota más bien en poder correr un montón de aplicaciones de adorno y efectos gráficos. Porque sí, tristemente el rendimiento de mi tarjeta de video no es del todo ideal en Linux.

Como tampoco no es ideal usar Adobe Flash (marca registrada, yo) en Linux.

Y por funcionamiento "no ideal" quiero decir "malo". Y por "malo" quiero decir "horrible", desde luego.

Suficiente como para que prefiera usar Windows para navegar por sitios con mucho Flash. Gracias a Dios no hay mucho sitios que usen Flash. Oh, wait...

En realidad que Flash funcione tan mal en Linux es culpa de Adobe, así que es una de las cosas que simplemente no se van a solucionar tan fácil.

Y hablando de Flash, pero del de los cómics, Barry Allen será ahora el Flash y Wally West se retirará. Barry Allen murió antes de que yo naciera, así que cuando alguien dice que es un regreso, a mi me miente. Mi Flash es Wally. Y Bart. Y Jay. Pero no Barry.

So, the Titans lost and I'm appalled at the nigh impossible feat of losing four times the ball on the red zone.

Instead of scoring 12 points at the very least, they got nothing. Nothing but the overwhelming feeling of disappointment, that is.

Oh, Collins, how much dreaded you long passes all game long. The chances of an interception were immense. Flacco, you goddamn reliable rookie. Couldn't you screw up not even once? Johnson, your amazing runs were sorely missed.

Desde hacía un rato que no me emocionaba tanto leyendo un manga como ahora que estoy leyendo Slam Dunk.

Los personajes me encantan, la narrativa es ágil, el argumento es simple y sin pretensiones, tiene humor, y el dibujo es excelente (me recuerda a los manuales de Basketball que mi padre tiene). Lo único que le hace falta es... bueno. No se me ocurre nada, por el momento.

Y por si fuera poco, buscando me encontré con el opening del anime con el doblaje Mexicano.

No estoy seguro si estaba en la prepa o en la secundaria cuando Slam Dunk fue transmitido en tele abierta, pero en ese entonces aun jugaba basket de vez en cuando, así que era imposible no apoyar a los personajes en lo que hacían. A diferencia de, por ejemplo Captain Tsubasa, todo lo que ocurría era muy apegado a la realidad. Eh, no se me olvida que la posición que Hanamichi adopta cada que gana un rebote es la misa que siempre te dicen que debes tener cuando estas aprendiendo a jugar.

Claro, en ese entonces me quede con la duda de que pasaría, pero ahora lo sabré.

Ah sí. Video del opening, que debo añadir, aun me acuerdo de la letra.

En mi afán de probar todo lo que sea posible probar en Linux, me puse aprobar KDE en Ubuntu.

Pensé que sería una tarea complicada, después de todo Ubuntu tiene una distribución específica que funciona con KDE (Kubuntu. Inesperado, lo sé), lo que me daba la impresión que era jugar con las entrañas mismas del sistema operativo para que funcionara. En cierta forma, sí, es jugar con las entrañas de Linux, pero no fue nada complicado.

Lo único que tuve que hacer fue descargar e instalar el paquete Kubuntu Desktop usando Synaptic.

Y listo.

Reinicié mi sesión cambiando la configuración de Gnome a KDE y me dispuse a ver que le había hecho a mi computadora.

Oh, sorpresa, el escritorio se veía bien. Muy bien. Además de que todo funcionaba correctamente y algunos programas, cómo Amarok, aun mejor.

El entorno KDE, a diferencia de Gnome, es bastante más diferente al entorno de Windows. La manera de interactuar con archivos y carpetas no depende de dobles clicks, los escritorios virtuales se "sienten" más independientes unos de otros, y visualmente es muy llamativo.

¡Pero! No me gustó lo suficiente.

Admito que es en gran parte por el manejo de archivos, tanto vivir dándole doble click a todo ya me tiene completamente condicionado a esperar que todo funcione así por defecto. Y la otra parte fue la visual. Aunque es un entorno de escritorio muy llamativo, con funciones muy modernas y que me motiva decir "muy" más de lo necesario, el estilo visual no me llenó el ojo. Seguramente con una buena personalizada eso hubiera cambiado, pero bueno.

Ahora, lo más notorio de todo fue que el uso de mi CPU se mantuvo consistentemente en 90% y más. Sospecho fuertemente que es por algo que hice, pero no pude evitar notarlo.

Quizás, algún día, Gnome me haga sentir mal por alguna razón y corra a refugiarme a los brazos de KDE, pero por el momento no es así.

Eso sí, ahora tengo un montón de dependencias de KDE corriendo en Gnome, lo que hace que algunos programas funcionen mejor.

Ah, salgo ganando de todos modos.

Dejo de usar blogger unas semanas, o meses no estoy muy seguro, y lo mejoran un poco.

Sigue sin tener la flexibilidad de los plugins de Wordpress, pero ya le pusieron más widgets, incluidos unos cuantos que tienen mucho que ver con el uso de feeds. Eso me gustó bastante, aunque por allí hay uno que aun está en prueba y no lo puedo probar en mi blog.

Pero bueno, considerando lo mucho que google gusta de dejar a sus servicios en beta, no me quejo.

Ahora, a cambiar el layout de mi blog para aprovechar esas funciones.

Escribir es una de esas numerosas actividades en las que mejoras con cada vez que las haces. Siempre y cuando estés consciente de qué puedes mejorar.

Identificar las partes más débiles en tu práctica de alguna actividad te da perspectiva acerca de tus fortalezas. De ese modo, no es un misterio porqué hay aspectos de esa actividad que disfrutas más que otros.

Pero incluso, con un mínimo de consciencia, mejorar al escribir simplemente escribiendo más es bastante efectivo por una sola razón: anula el bloqueo de escritor efectivamente. Por si mismo, ese es un logro enorme, el paso más difícil para escribir algo, es comenzar a hacerlo.

El primer fandom al que pertenecí fue al de Eiffel 65.

En retrospectiva, no es algo que pondría en un curriculum de "cosas acerca de las cuales me he obsesionado", que viendolo bien, sería como lista que haría para mi terapia. Pero ese no es el punto.

Durante esos nebulosos años, también conocidos como "el año 2000" (dun dun DUN!) Eiffel 65 anunció que se encontraban preparando un segundo disco (después de "Europop", oi) y que pronto estaría listo.

¡Y así fue!

Desafortundamente, Eiffel 65 y "Blue (Da ba dee)" fueron una simple moda, un one hit wonder para el publico en general, así que no tuvieron mucho éxito con "Contact", su segundo disco, a pesar de ser un album bastante interesante y divertido (aunque muchos se opongan a ello, la música se puede disfrutar).

"Contact" contiene una mezcla muy, muy pegajosa de Eurodance (vocoder ahoy!), House (so disco!) y Pop (can's stop singing this!). Eso sin mencionar una producción excelente plagada de destellos de ingenio por todos lados.

Para ese entonces, yo ya era todo un fans de Eiffel 65. Digamos que era uno de esos fans que básicamente se la viven en los foros de mensajes oficiales de los artistas. Ok. De hecho eso me describía en ese entonces a la perfección. Al grado que aun converso con algunas de las personas que conocí en esos rumbos.

Claro, de repente se me salió defender una opinión poco popular. No sabía que de hecho tenía influencia entre los fans. Así que, eh, resulta que termino vetado de los foros. Aparentemente, me veían como el lider de un grupo de 8 personas bastante problemáticas. Problematicas porque eramos (más bien, somos) de opiniones fuertes y nos encantaba pelearnos en los foros y todo eso tan divertido.

Para cuando eso ocurrió, Eiffel 65 había anunciado un disco y que pronto iba a salir. Excepto que ya había pasado casi un año de eso.

No regresé a ese foro excepto a fastidiar un poco y sólo cuando me retaban a hacerlo.

Nunca pude conseguir "Contact". Debido al poco éxito que tuvieron los sencillos, no se distribuyó el disco en México. De hecho, Musart sí había vendido los sencillos de "Contact" y los incluyo en varias compilaciones de música Dance, pero el disco no. Además, nótese lo super geek que sigo siendo en cuanto al tema.

Como sea, apenas ayer me consegui en mp3 (ni modo) "Contact" y Dios, es la neta.

Es todo un viaje a la calle del recuerdo, por lo que esta música significó para mí y por todas las cosas que me pasaron en ese entonces.

• Hay muchos niños y pubertos jugando WoW y como todos sabemos, estos seres son insoportables y rara vez saben trabajar en equipo.
• Algunas personas se toman demasiado en serio WoW y no pierden oportunidad en mostrarse agresivos. Sólo recuerda: They will never get laid, and if they do, they will not enjoy it.
  
• Todos comentemos errores. Echando a perder se aprende.
• Es probable que encuentres personas experimentadas en tus grupos y otros que sólo creen serlo. Diferenciar una cosa de otra toma tiempo.

¡El objetivo es divertirte! No es obligación andar formando grupos, si prefieres andar sólo explorando el mundo no hay nada que te lo impida.

Sólo porque quiero presumir mi UI en WoW.
